Service Focus
Simple, Small, and Personal
Our goal is to focus on providing services for simple yet smaller websites whether they are personal, home business, or small business. We offer full support for all of our services. Our support services are small and personal. Keeping our business simple and small ensures our servers and services are secure and managed.
Our Limited Services and Support
Our customer support is focused on services we offer. We do offer limited non related service support such as common desktop (Windows or computer software), web design, and technical non server related issues. We also do not offer services for clients that purchase hosting plans for the following purposes:
- Large media share, transfer, upload, or download (free or paid).
- Email services for spam purposes.
- Storage and back up of personal desktop files, media, and photos.
- Installing unrelated service software onto the server.
Media Storage, Uploading, and Downloading
The best way to use up server resources, bandwidth, and slow a server down is a client or several clients offering free media storage, upload, or downloading services on the website. HDC does not support these types of websites for server security reasons.
Email Lists and Spamming
HDC does not support services or sites used solely for email list and spamming. Spamming uses excessive bandwidth and server resources.
Online Backup and Storage
HDC does not permit using the server for backup and storage of files from personal desktops and computers. HDC is strictly reserved for online purposes for websites.
Installing Softwares or Hardwares
HDC limits installation of software or hardware on the server.

Host Design Center Mission
Quality Services
The web hosting business is very competitive with the low cost selling off server space cheap unlimited space and technical support of 4 plus departments and 22 different staff members. Nothing wrong with a growing over populated business if you do not mind swimming through the repetitious ads and “buy this that and that” plastered all over the pages. I personally find these types of online businesses too busy, annoying, and difficult to get around. Host Design Center sticks with the basics and prefers quality over quantity. Our goal is to remain a small online hosting and design business so that we can offer quality services and more personalized customer service.
Quality Support
Many of the online businesses now offer wide range of contact and communication options. Communication and ability to contact businesses and support services is important and valuable part of having an online business. Some of the things I have noticed with bigger companies is they are re-directing customers to community forums and FAQ pages in hopes that customers will resolve their own problems after hours of surfing the website. Customers should feel comfortable enough to contact the support department without confusion and answers directly from the business with some online direction and materials so the customer can further explore with guidance. Quality support should also offer friendly services where businesses are familiar with their clients, rather than feeling like a stranger to a company which I am hiring to provide me services.
Keeping it Simple and Small
Host and Design Center is dedicated to keeping the business simple, small, and personal. We aim to offer services which you need and want, not hassle customers with endless ads to encourage buying things they do not use or know how to use. We focus on customizing your services to fit your needs.
In the Beginning of Time…
In 1999 I purchased my first computer which contained Windows 95. A whole new adventure for me to finally graduate from Word Processors and type writers to a fully loaded computer with networking. I confess I was a little nervous and hesitant to take any interest in the net or world wide web. It wasn’t long after I plugged in the computer, installed so many softwares that the computer crashed within a year. I finally ventured off to the internet and I was hooked.
My first experience was Yahoo Messenger due to my profound hearing loss, everyone was encouraging me to get connected online so I could communicate with others. It wasn’t long before I found my way to chat, forum, and online groups and making new friends from around the world.
My first impression was the idea of designs that created these places we visit, websites. I had to know how I wanted to learn it look like a lot of fun! My first website was created in 1999 using Yahoo’s free hosting and online web editor. It wasn’t great but I was having a lot of fun adding contents, animated graphics, and creating pages of unimportant rambling contents.
New Adventures
In 2000, I discovered the pixel graphic community. Immediately with my artistic background, I had to learn that too. I spent hours trying to figure out Paint Shop Pro and how to create cute little images adding one pixel/dot at a time. It wasn’t long I was hooked and addicted to making endless pixel graphics, backgrounds, and decorating my endless unimportant sites. It wasn’t long before I finally discovered online communities of pet lovers, personal family websites, and community forums. (This was all before Myspace and Facebook).
I began making club sites for pet lovers, graphics lovers and even opened my own online graphic shop. I got tired of the advertisements on my websites that come with unwanted obligations having free hosting. I also discovered that ads produced by free services online risk sending viruses and trojans to visitors that visit your website. This was not ok!
Web and Support Frustrations
My next adventure in 2001 was to get my own domain and web hosting. I immediately learned fast about the process of domain registration and the troubles that come with shared web hosting. Frustrated I found my site down, slow, or lack of customer support. Several times I had waited days for the support to fix issues, many had no clue how to solve simple web problems. The slow download of my web pages and constant disconnection from my ftp was too much. I discovered the hosting reseller business thinking this would solve a lot of my problems and the start of my web hosting business. In 2002, i began selling off web space through my resellers. I continued having issues with slow servers, down time, and lack of customer support.
In 2004, I finally gathered enough courage to get a dedicated server shared with another girl from the hosting/pixel community. Quickly I had to learn the hardship of owning and maintaining servers and being responsible for customer support. It was not easy, I had a lot to learn, and spent many hours googling for solutions and educating myself on the hosting business. In the end I was content having my own server. It was costly and time consuming at times, but the slow sever issue finally faded along with minimal down time. The plus side was, when things went wrong I was able to fix them at a faster rate rather than waiting on a tech support.
Stepping Up and Stepping Down
In 2008, I finally purchased my own server running my own business without a partner. Unfortunately, things also picked up with my dance projects. I found myself becoming everything I disliked about the past experience with hosting companies and started becoming one of them. As time went by, I continued to maintain my hosting and web design business but my time was limited. I simply was not focused enough like I should have been. In 2010, I began feeling burned out with my performing arts activities. I even took on a temporary job was a gymnastic coach and passion just was not there. I knew it was time for a change as I have been teaching the performing arts for over twenty four years. I missed web designing and the excitement of learning something new. I had spent years learning everything about the performing arts, it was becoming more of a job and hassle and not as fun and exciting.
Returning to the World Wide Web
In 2011, I finally made the decision to return to the net and web world. After years of googling and learning about HTML, CSS, PHP, and dedicated server, I decided it was time to step up and get educated. I enrolled in the College of Technology for Computer Programming and Application Development. I am very excited about my new adventure and return to the world wide web. My goal is to provide quality professional services to my clients that choose me whether it be hosting or web design. The challenge of web designing is never ending, there is always something more to learn.
